Dounreay leak was minor

But SEPA launch an investigation into incident

SEPA has launched an inquired into a leak of radioactive material at the former Dounreay nuclear site.
The liquid effluent is understood to have leaked inside a treatment facility. The Scottish Environment Protection Agency says the leak was minor and did not get outside the plant and DSRL (Dounreay Site Restoration Ltd stressed that nobody was put at risk by the incident.
Radioactive liquid effluent occurs when a reactor and its equipment are cleaned. The treatment plant at Dourneay removes some radioactivity from the waste liquid as part of the process. A section of the treatment plant has eben shut down for investigations.
