Lovely pictures that brought back memories
We had the great fortune to have a seal colony at the bottom of our garden in Brough during our recent holiday and spent many happy hours watching these delightful creatures lounging on the slipway or calling to one another on the rocks around Little Clett.

looks more like a female, general rule of thumb is the snout, concave on female convex on males (adults).
