Decent dry-cleaners?

Hey everyone :D

I tend to make it a rule never to buy anything that needs dry-cleaning as I dont like the hassle. But I was looking at some gorgeous stuff on t'internet last night and everything had the instructions specialist dry-clean or dry-clean only.

ARE there any dry-cleaners in the county, and more importantly are there any GOOD dry-cleaners in the county?

Just thought I'd ask you all as you're bound to know. I dont want to buy expensive stuff for a treat just to find I cant get them cleaned properly :eek:

Thurso laundrette does dry cleaning. Ok for most things but not always successful when I have been unlucky enough to have had stains on item.

Oh dear, is that the only place in the County then?

Things dont look too good for my expensive purchases then...perhaps best just stick to the washable stuff as usual :(

Think they are ok if you point out the stains if you get any on the garment when you take it in.
I must admit to chancing it with my clothes and handwashing them and letting them drip dry....then if they survive.... using the washing machine on the silk or wool program if worn again:lol:

I normall just wash by hand and let drip dry or sometimes put in machine on a delicate cycle and so far everything has been fine. Washed my nieces wedding dress recently and it came out like new. Have been know to wash OH suit jacket and all and no problems. Maybe I am just lucky!:lol::lol:

If highly embellished the only other thing I do is put the item in a pillowcase.

I think there's one in Wick aswell? Not sure if its good or not because I've never used a dry cleaners in my life but I've got a duvet with dog piddle on it so I'm going to take it to the launderettes in Wick tomorrow to see if they can dry clean it.

How big is the duvet?
Because you can bung them in the washing machine.
I can fit one half of my kingsize duvet (its a 4 season one that separates into 2 duvets) in the washing machine and I give it an extra spin or two before sticking in the tumbledryer with some tennis balls or the tumble dryer balls.

Its a kingsize duvet aswell, I did try giving it a go but it wouldn't fit. Although I did wonder if it would fit on one of the launderette washing machines? Might work out cheaper than dry cleaning....

definitely get it into the launderette machine if you cant do it at home! it will be so much cheaper :D
