Hey Guys,
Im surprised that everyone jumped into this and started the old skool slagging match, cheers for the advertisement of the available gigs buggyracer and thanks for the reply to my pm
i think its a good thing that buggy bothered to put out the advertisement to bands, letting people who didnt know that a NEW band venue has opened up, its a dam good thing with the viewfirth closing
thanks again
All bands should be paid the same... I dont think so buddy!!!!
Would you pay £200 for sum like Biffy Clyro ... no way
Thats what the young band earned in the Holborn...
No band is worth just a fixcated ammount of money!
My band... We dont do it for money...
We were offered a gig in the Weigh Inn... And the man said how much are you guys... We were like were not fussed for pay....We only were lookin to play which is why were in a band.... Not to make money... But to have fun!!!
the money is just a bonus....
Having people enjoiing sumting your doing.....
Like when people dance to the music... For i am the drummer....
I think to myself... Just think Zeb, There all dancing to ure beat!!...
Its the music.... Not the money peeps!
I wouldn't pay £2 for Biffy to be honest. Thats personal choice though.Quote:

Zeb; Biffy Clyro - and bands of that ilk (i.e. signed, commercial bands) - will never be playing the likes of The Holborn. And yes, music is a labour of love, but if you're entertaining and putting on show you deserve to be paid for it. If you're not interested in making money with your band, can I have your share then? Exactly.
There's an idea!Quote:

Managers are always a good idea. Reev will agree with me on this one. We have our own manager and have never looked back!Quote:

I said..
" The Money Is just a Bonus
And your rite... Now that were doin gig supporting outselfs around Caithness...
The Money is neeeded... For how you say equipment and transport,,
But i'm just expressing the fact that I never started for the money...
And i dont think a band should be paid the same as the next..
If i hired a band and said how much do they want to play...
If they said a ammount... That was reasonably not of the chains.... Yeah sure.... But the crowd makes a difference to how the Manager ( person who highered band ) If it pleases the crowd then they are going to come back... Must think about it like that..
I'm not slagging or having a go at anyone here guys... I'm just expressing my feelings ( side of the point )....
We dont have just one manager...
We have a bunch of members that help us with disisions and other stuff....
We have someone at practice... Who says.. thats crap... oh maby you should do this song... You know that gig.. How are we getting there blah....
But maby your rite a fixcated manager
What qualitys should a manager have?
What qualities should a manager have,
well i think we have the best one there is,
he tells us on a regular basis just how bad we really are, reminds us how none of us can play a dam thing
it makes everything we do sooooooo worthwhile, and yes moncur i agree and you will agree with this statement
He also has a good service charge- 50%. And what is 50% of £0.00? Nothing!
By the way, what time is the Holborn licesnsed to? If it was open to 2am and playing live music, it would (hopefully) put a small dent (at least) in Cardosi's monopoly game.
What are the acoustics like in the Holburn these days? I played there 10 years or so ago and it was like a swimming pool then!! Any treatment been looked at?
It's worse!!!!
Yeah Gleber2... the acoustics are not great but the young band played not in the down stair bit with the black flooring.... but just at the wood bit after the bar... and with a good PA and few folk to dim the feedback eko... Its a good place....
If we have our same PA man for it again i cant wait to play the holborn again!
After a bit of interegation to the powers that be it seems feasable that a late licence would be available should and only when a live music event was to take place.Quote:
