Black Rustic is an autumn moth appearing at the very end of August and continuing into October. It is probably quite widely distributed in Caithness, but the majority of records come from sites where regular light trapping is undertaken but the records are intermitent so its probably scarce even in those areas. It overwinters as a small larva which feeds at night.
