Golden Plover
I saw a most amazing sight last week whilst coming home from work.
I saw a field full of Golden Plover and two fields on there was about another 1/3 of a field of these same amazingly gorgeous birds.
Without exaggerating, there must have been at least 800-1000 of these birds taking refuge in these fields.
It was on the Thurso - Shebster road, across from the Garage.
I saw some more yesterday on the same road but in fields on the same side as the Garage, not as many grouped together but still an impressive sight.
Well worth a quick trip out around teatime some night. I don't know how long they stay in the area for before moving on. Maybe someone else knows?
Thanks

I haven't seen a solitary Golden Plover since I was a child! I imagine it must have been thrilling to see so many gathered together. :D Would have loved to have gone to see them, but unfortunately we live on the other side of the county. :(
