Nothing to see here: move along.
HMG's approach to the very many scandals which have surfaced in recent months appears to be not to acknowledge them in the hope that they go away.
They have taken this approach with:- (please feel free to add to the list)
The Dominic Cummings Affair;
Robert Jenrick and the porn king's (Richard Desmond) dodgy planning application;
Stanley Johnson's quarantine dodging trip to Greece;
The Covid 19 PPE procurement mess;
The Huawei debacle;
Russian interference in UK elections;
London being used to launder Russian oligarch's dirty money:
The complicity of those in some of the highest offices in the land in profiting from illegal Russian involvement in the UK.
The approach seems to be working. Already the BBC have moved the various Russian-related scandals down the running order despite the fact that what has been going on is alleged to be wide spread corruption at the highest levels. The other ones in the list all disappeared fairly quickly from the front pages and our TV screens and are now nowhere to be seen. Again these latter scandals are all serious issues which merit proper investigation by both the press and the police. Yet, nothing appears to be happening.
Makes you wonder just how large the web of corruption at the heart of our democracy really is.
