The Gaelic committee of Highland council met on 28th March 2024 and one of the papers for discussion was the Blas 2023 Festival Report.   Cuts have already reduced the scale of the festival compared to previous years and future years will be no easier for the organisers unless it can become more commercial and run in the face of ever diminishing council and government funding.

As Ofcom has published a consultation with some suggestions to allow Royal Mail to make huge changes to our postal services we look at the famous poem by WH Auden that accompanied a famous documentary about the mail on trains made in 1936.   Ofcom has outlined two proposals for consultation, including cutting the six-day service down to five days a week or three.

New Collective Aims To Deliver 'refreshed' Inverness Events And Festivals
A new approach to the delivery of a refreshed Inverness Common Good Fund's events and festivals programme was agreed by Councillors at The Highland Council's City of Inverness and Area Committee today.   The new approach will support the revitalisation, economic recovery and social well-being of the city as Scottish Government COVID-19 relaxation of restrictions allow in future.

Calling all Highland Creatives
North Lands Creative and Berlin Glas are collaborating on an initiative to improve and increase dialogue between an artist from the Highland & Islands region in Scotland and an artist based in the city of Berlin at a time when mobility of artists has been badly affected by the pandemic.   This interdisciplinary and collaborative artist residency will focus on dialogue and interaction between the two artists working from the Lybster and Berlin Studio's.
