Download, install and run the free version of Malwarebytes. http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Let it fix anything that it finds.

If you do this, please ensure that you do not have any other anti-virus and/or firewall software running.

Microsoft Security Essentials is indeed excellent at blocking incoming threats; it is not as effective as Malwarebytes removing resident infections.

What you up to tonight? I'll have a play with it if you like - I'm good at extermination!

You can go onto the Microsoft site, go to the Security section, then home user.... heck! Why am I writing this out??

Go here. (http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.aspx) This will go through your entire system on-line and clean out any nasties. Worked wonders for me and I run it about every two months.

I read on a review that it was best to turn off windows defender whilst using this. Is that correct. Also if you download it do you remove your installed anit virus first or after the down load.

Thank you

it is certainly better to uninstall any other virus progs inc defender yes.

but the install detects most things and advises that anyhow.

The Microsoft on-line solution does not require that you uninstall anything. Once clean you can then choose your fav AV (one only) and a couple of anti-malware packages.

Were you answering me? If you were.
I meant the settings were it asks if you want to quaranteen or remove.
