Anyone watch her speech to the TEA party?

I am very scarily reminded of 1930s Germany.

I have to declare that I think she is a dangerous lunatic and have held that view for a long time.

100% agree.

I am amazed she has crawled back out from under her stone after her performace in the election campaign.

The good news is that she is not against Scotland in general or Caithness in particular, so there is little to worry about. She makes fine political theater, but one must keep in mind she is no longer an elected official and has no legislative power.

She does, however, get paid for speaking. As such it is in her best interest to be controversial in ways that augment her public persona.

I do think the comparison to 1930s Germany is a bit over the top. There were no suggestions of invading another country that has historically been part of America in order to create "room to live", creating a vast socialist system that would ensure a thousand year reign (or Reich), nor some government driven, top down master plan for ever aspect of American life.

She is and will continue to be "mostly harmless". If you enjoy political theater, feel free to keep track of her. She will provide you with plenty of get your blood up. Otherwise, just ignore her like most of us do. It works out better that way.

She is hot though.

Maybe if Nick Griffin looked like her I would take him more seriously.

On second thought, no.

I have not seen her speech in full yet, but I think it is nothing to do with what power she wields it is a natural concern to anyone in the world when someone so prominent in the USA makes the kind of noises she does.

It is not as though she is a Fox political commentator or something like that, this is a woman who had a good chance of assuming full control of the most powerful army in the world, only recently.

That's why she's potentially so dangerous. Dubya was ugly and cross-eyed as well as plain stupid. Palin's just plain stupid.

I don't know Cray, I think he was pretty handsome. Albeit not dashing like Clinton.

Oh Bruce, you are a little too close for comfort. If the poo hits the fan, you and your extended family are welcome here in Caithness. (We have room for oh, another 15 or 20 friends).

All the best :Razz

That sounds like a nice plan! I put the chances of Palin ever becoming an elected official in high office as small, in part because she does commentary on Fox News and people can now get a better assessment of her. The "Wow, a republican hottie!" effect can wear off, and the realization comes across that she is really not visionary enough to be president.

In my opinion she is not visionary enough to be allowed out of her house.

That opinion was pretty much universal when the Mrs and I were in Alaska on holiday, the week McCain selected her as his running-mate. We didn't meet a single Alaskan who liked her. Of course being on holiday, we were mostly meeting bus drivers, barkeeps, and other people who actually work for a living, most of them Native Alaskan rather than a second-generation white settler like Caribou Barbie.
