Just set up computer with wirless router but for some reason have lost the sound any ideas on how to retrieve

Just re-install the drivers for the sound card. Should do the trick.

Is it possible that the speaker connector at the back of the PC hasn't come out, either all or part way, when the router was being connected. On most systems it should plug into the green socket.

Otherwise before you try drivers, ensure the volume controls haven't been set to 0 or muted.
