In one of his more memorable Far Side cartoons, Gary
Larson depicts two alligators lounging on a riverbank strewn with
shredded human clothing.

One alligator contentedly picks his teeth and
muses, "What type of animals were those? No fur, no tough hide,
no sharp claws, no big fangs, nothing! Just all soft and pink!"

The power of the alligators dinner is invisible and no matter how many of them he eats, although he gets sustanance from the flesh and bones, he will never be able to feel the real power of his prey.

On the other hand the alligators design is so perfect it has not needed to evolve......;)
