If Carlsberg did sarcasm.

The thing I love about Caithness is its beautiful women, the craic, the fresh clean air mixed with manure, the way people will say hi to you in the street yet you have no idea who they are, the scenery and well basically its home and I don't see myself leaving anytime soon.

The scenery - the wide open spaces, beaches, rugged coastline and cliffs. The breath-taking views of Orkney, the dramatic sea and sky. The feeling of 'being away from it all'. The history, and last but not least - the people! :)

Statistically you're safer in an Asda car park, I'll have you know.

Only one person has been mown down by gangsters in an Asda car park. You've a higher probability of being mown down by a rogue trolley in the frequent high winds up here in Tescos' car park.
You want to see them go, man!

Being serious, for a change, I like Caithness for the friendly people, a better community spirit, almost zero crime, fresh air and no polluted skies, clear starry skies, and the best forum on the web. :)

In addition to the night sky, the seas, the beaches, the wide open spaces the lack of traffic, the peace and tranquillity along with the excitement of boating, surfing etc.
What I like is the speed with which the most innocent posts on .org can descend into paranoia, xenophobia or downright racism.

Anyone reading this now will not know what the hell is going on:eek:

I like Caithness because it's so safe. The offended brigade are always there to protect us from the mortal dangers of acerbic mordacity. You don't get that in our cities and thank goodness for that.

i like the fact my children can play outside and be safe. where i am from there was quite often dirty needles left lying outside by parks. Also i like the beaches and the harbours and nearly everything, the people are friendly too.

I love the optimistic attitude of the people in that they feel part of something which is much bigger than that of their county's borders.

Why so?

The people of Caithness are as much a part of the world as any other people.

Sitting by the Scarfskerry shore, watching the birds navigate the winds, or looking out to the sea between Dunnet Head and Hoy - or - being on Dunnet Head seeing all the lighthouses in the Firth.
Daydreams can carry you a long way.
And I wish there had been an ORG when I lived there.

I love the view from the top of the hill at dwarick pier. When our child is old enough and we visit my partner's parents in the summer with our child i want to climb that hill with our child and show him/her the view. It is beautiful. I may not want to live in caithness anymore as i have taken a strong liking to life in inverness as the busier pace is much more suited to me but that does not mean that when we visit my partner's parents i enjoy the beauty of caithness and enjoy it when i can. The less chances we get to go up north the more i enjoy and appreciate the views and especilly the beaches. These are the things i want my children to enjoy and appreciate during our visits to see their grandparents.

I love being able to see the stars! I very rarely see the stars now and have only seen it when around the caledonian canal when walking home one night and that was a few months ago now. I love the night sky. It is fascinating.

I'm so glad A.W said this, cos I was going to say that the only thing I liked about Caithness was the road to Helmsdale, but after seeing that some posts were removed due to being offensive I thought I'd better not.
I'm not being offensive in saying this as I'm a Helmie, and I must like Caithness cos I've moved back to the county after being out of it for about 9yrs.
So to you Golachs, I say the best thing about Caithness is the road to Helmsdale, my home.
