A Wee Frozen Jobby
by Cedric Farthsbottom III

Look back to the year nineteen seventy four
Since last Auld Scotland saw the likes before
Three whole weeks of temperatures low
Trying to cease the blood to flow

Snow in the trees, slippy on the ground
Heartening adventures sure to be found
The sun still masked by clouds upon high
Sleet and the showers falling from the sky

Snug coal fires keeping the heat
Soothing the cold from head to feet
Hot frothy coffee straight from the cup
Cheering the drinker all the way up

So how cold has the cold spell been
Since 1974 has never been seen
