would you say it was getting overly hot compared to normal? or a diff smell.

without knowing what it is crt/lcd/plasma etc model no - let me know
big guess as to why it doing it...

but typically this time of year sees these types of fault increase.

build up of dust & fluff inside with central heating/cold nights produces condensation, the dust becomes conductive.

ofcourse not wishing to endanger you or anyone else, but sometimes a goods cleanout with a sashbrush and a vacuum cleaner helps.
just leave it unplugged for a wee while if you do.

"hi thankyou for getting back to me the tv is not overheating sometimes it will stay on for 20mins then you have to leave it 24hrs and it might come on again it just puts itself on standby its just over a year old 32inch goodmans"

then its covered under SOGA.

contact where you purchased it from & tell them what it is doing.
they might, 'quite rightly' ask you to pay for in independent eng to come and assess the fault. then return that report to them.

under SOGA it should be repaired FOC & your report fee should be refunded.
your issue is with the POINT OF SALE, so don't take any rubbish about you've got to contact the manu.

it matters NOT that it is outside manu warranty, it should last a 'resonable period', typically for a TV of about 18mts of age, this should be 3-5yrs if not more.
