On my travels today in Wick I saw a few starlings that had rings on their legs. Does anyone know who ringed starlings and for what reason:confused

Most local ornithologists clubs have licences for netting wild birds for ringing. I imagine the reason would be to record the movements of birds in the wild.

You have to have a BTO license to ring birds in this country. If you want more info look at the BTOs website.
http://www.bto.org/

If you got any info from the rings, eg colour or letters. There is a page you can record your sightings on their website. Or you could email them to the county recorder.
