I am not a betting man, but I would bet a couple of quid the person with the telescope at Dunnet tonight is NOT an astrologer. This is a common confusion. My boss teaches an introductory level astronomy class and gets test papers with "Astrology 3" written in the box for "course name".

I have to admit that I did wonder about that one... mind you, I haven't seen Mystic Meg for a while ;)

George – you’ve destroyed the excitement for me! I had thought that “his special telescope” would be one that enabled the user to see into the future rather than the past!

If, in fact, it is an astrologer rather than an astronomer then the flask to take would have to contain a strong liquid preferably Old Pulteney! Maybe a large bucket of salt would also be relevant!

If I'm told to take a flask to Dunnet Bay at night in February, it's going to be something close to Old Pultney, let me assure you!

is this like an official caithness astronomy group or does such a group exist? :confused
