Caithness Company are preparing a presentation about uniforms and equipment through the years, and are looking for photos, stories and uniform/ equipment items to borrow.
Caithness has always had a strong ACF contingent; If you were ever a member and would like to contribute in some way please post here or pm me for more information.

At 4 a.m. on Saturday morning, July 11, the Halkirk Platoon Army Cadet Force left by special train for Gailes Camp, Ayrshire, under the command of Quartermaster Andrew Sinclair, Police Buildings, Halkirk. The Cadets will be in training for a week and we hope they get good weather.

Thurso Remembers The Fallen

The two minutes’ silence in remembrance of those who gave their lives during the two World Wars was observed by a small but none-the-less sincere gathering at the Thurso War Memorial on Sunday morning. Held in cold but dry weather, the ever-impressive ceremony was attended by the Provost, magistrates, members and officials of the Town Council. The Thurso branch of the British Legion was represented by the vice-chairman, Mr Magnus Munro...

...In addition to the wreaths brought by the relatives of the Fallen, floral tributes were laid at the base of the Memorial on behalf of the British Legion, the Town Council, the Army Cadet Force, the Boys’ Brigade and the Co-op Women’s Guild.

Cheers Thirsaloon, those are great! Any pictures or memories, especially about the kit worn and the equipment used, today's cadets are fascinated by it all. Only problem is they keep saying things like 'Back in the olden days when you were a Cadet...'

well considering the amount of people in the county who have been in the cadets its not very good ..just goes to show the standing of the ACF in the community..aspecialy as there are so many former cadts serving in our armed forces.
