Just heard trailer for this programme on Radio 4 at 4.30 today - the words superfast broadband in the remote Highlands got my attention. Is this something for us or are we not remote enough?

Its easy enough to implement if funded properly, I've done it in the past, selling Internet to student halls; linking all the local APs via WDS then doing infrastructure/site/town point-to-point links is probably the way to go - friend of mine use to do it on the west coast a few years ago also.
There are a few problems APS basically function like hubs so there could be an issue there also the backbone uplink needs to be sufficient. I'd probably do a few uplinks for redundancy and load balancing.
I can see some advantages if they go the internal MAN route for towns/sites also.
If done on the cheap then it'll be crap.
