Thats good because this year has been dismal for Caithness Killer whale sightings as you can see on
http://www.caithness-sea-watching.co.uk/7.html

You have to scroll right down and they are in red. Normally there would have been 3-4 times as many sighting at least, from the JOG Ferry Crew.

Killer Whales will eat almost anything, fish, birds, seals, dolphins, small whales and carrion, there is also one that kills Great whites.
When they are very close to the coast they are pobably hunting seals.
It is belived that only 10% of killer whales eat mammals the majority feed on herring and mackerel.

Sorry Sarah, what you have there is a male white-beaked Dolphin.
I did look at that dolphin when i was over there for the Royal Oak memorial.
The species was also confirmed by Chris and Roger who keep cetacean records in Orkney, they checked it's teeth with known teeth held on file.
At the time i looked, there was very little to go on but it's lengh at 9.5feet and the face grooves where the beak that was missing fitted pointed at it being a white-beaked dolphin.
