Spotted this today, had an orangey top to head and orange beak.first glance I thought it was a snow bunting but now am being indecisive!
It looks not unlike a Lesser Redpoll.
I would agree with Skifter in that it looks like a Lesser Redpoll.
Bonnie wee bird whatever it is. How come you manage to find all these different birds Lizz and I don't although I go for a walk every day?:confused
Maybe I should wear my specs!
He he, I was seal watching at the time and happened to glance over my shoulder,it was sitting on the gate behind me hence the poor picture as the camera was set up for the seals.
I tend to find a quiet spot and just wait to see what comes to me,also have a good pair of binoculars to hand and my glasses perched firmly on my nose!
Ah I keep walking so maybe that's where I am going wrong!:D
I love listening to and watching nature when out for walks. Very relaxing.
Yep - definitely looks like a red poll.
Thanks folk that's a new bird for me so delighted it's been identified.
Could this perhaps be a youngster then (top right perch), or am I on totally the wrong bird...

This little one was feasting on the nyger feeder this morning. I spotted a stranger visiting yesterday, but wasn't quick enough to the camera - it had a very cherry red breast (but didn't notice colour on the head). I assume this is the same fellow who has returned today, but unfortunately I couldn't see his chest as he was only interested in waving his tail feathers in my direction today!
