Are Open Office and Star Office compatible with MS Office and MS Publisher 2003?

As far as I know publisher files can only opened with MS software :(

For just Word documents try Abiword (http://www.abisource.com/)

For an entire suite Open Office (http://www.openoffice.org/) obviously

Theres also Scribus (http://www.scribus.net/) for just DTP stuff

Importing Publisher files though may be a problem, your best bet is to convert to PDF then open with Open Office Draw or Scribus. I think publish supports saving to PS also, that might work in some apps.

I personally use LaTeX for everything.
