Is there anywhere to buy wool in Caithness (Shetland wool in particular?)

Do you mean knitting wool, if so try Elizabeths in Brabster Street Thurso or the baby shop on Princes Street ,can't remember the name of it. There used to be a nice wool shop in Wick but haven't been there for a while so don't know if it's still there or not.

The Reel Thing in wick sells wool upstairs, it's down beside somerfield.

The 99pence shops have double knitting wool.. Reel thing have a good selection of all kinds in Wick, and Elizabeths in Thurso have a full range too.
