How much do you tip when you go out to eat? Is it a set percentage? What's normal these days?

I think 10% should be fine Sandra_B but really it's personal choice.

Watch though, in case a service charge is automatically added to your bill.

I tip as and when I get service that merits a wee bitty extra on top of the wage already given, for example got shoddy service in La Mirage on Sunday and felt like not leaving a tip so I didn't, had had lovely service a few weekends before in the Halladale inn so leaft a few quid for the waiting staff/kitchen folks. Note to all front of house staff...smile and be helpfull and your tips will increase.

If the food and Service are good I tip if not I complain and leave
