Just watched The Choir on BBC2 and feel all inspired to sing! Is there such a thing as a community choir in Caithness? If not, would anyone be interested in starting one? I see from a recent thread ".org factor" that we have some talent here, so why not? I used to sing a bit through amateur dramatics/operatics and loved it. It's a great way to let off steam and just enjoy yourself.

What does the org think...? [lol][lol][lol]

I'd enjoy it, providing we get to sing a variety of stuff....

I guess if it were a proper community choir there should be joint decisions about stuff like that, but it'd be great to try loads of different types of music. Does anyone know (or is?) a choirmaster/mistress? I wouldn't know where to start teaching people... :confused

Great! Doesn't look like many people are interested though - two of us wouldn't make a very impressive choir would it?!

Thank you for that! Had a look at their website and it sounds great, although not sure if it is still current. Filled in some details and emailed them anyway - fingers crossed!

Why try to re-invent the wheel when there are choirs you could join? If Gaelic is not your thing then there are various active Church choirs.

Approach one of these organisations and it could well unlock the doors to others. Good luck.

Would love to try Gaelic but, being Welsh and new to Scotland, may be a bit too much of a challenge for me! I'd considered church choirs but am not particularly religious so not sure how I'd fit in...

Try the Choral Society then. Their conducter is Don Renwick, I'm sure you could find him in the Phone Book. He was based in Wick the last time I looked. :)

Thanks Moira - will do!
