how am I able to cut things out of my start up thingie so that the pc doesn't take ages to get going..

the free version of Glary Utilities has a section on startup programs and can help identify and remove those that you do not want:

Or in the start menu search bar type msconfig and hit the enter key. Select the start up tab and uncheck the programmes you recognize that you don't wish to use at start up followed by apply. When you do eventually start up again a reminder will be displayed that this was altered and tick the box not to remind you again and it will not pop up again.

thanks, Niall, I downloaded that and had a go, but not a lot of change...I'll have a shot at what Tony says to see then...thanks
