I'm researching my wife's family tree and have found her great grandmother was Mary Flett born 9/5/1846 in Pultneytown. Her parents were Henry Flett, born possibly 1806 in either Orkney or Wick, and Jane Reid, born 1/3/1812 in Wick. He was a cabinetmaker to trade, and they married in Wick on 12/11/1839. Henry died 21/8/1885 in Wick and Jane on 30/8/1899 at 17 Dempster Street, Pultneytown.
It seems that Henry's parents were William Flett and Mary Keith, and Jane's were Alexander Reid and Jean Sinclair, but so far I have no further details.
Mary Flett married Humphrey Davie on 30/4/1879 in Wick. He was from Cardross in Dunbartonshire, and they moved to Glasgow, where Mary died in 1927.
Can anyone supply more information?

Cuthill, thanks for the prompt response. I wonder if you have any info on Henry's parents. So far I have found several William Fletts, all born in Orkney and all around the same age. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places as I'm new to this game, but I would appreciate any assistance I can get.
How do you know of the Fletts? Are you working on a tree connected with them?

Thanks Cuthill, but if you're not actually working on this tree or any connection then don't go to any trouble. I will check the 1841 Census - I just haven't got around to it yet. However, if you do come up with anything at any time I will obviously be happy to hear from you.
