Is it me or just my garden but this year the rowan trees are buckling under the weight of a very big crop of berries? The berries are somewhat brighter and bigger and strangely enough they aren't getting any attention from the birds.

Weird or what? Anyone got an explanation please?:confused

They look fantastic though, better than any flowering tree at the moment.

hi rheghead.about the abundance of rowan berries i was always told that the more berries on the tree in autumn meant the more severe winter we could expect.and the reason the birds are not interested in the berries might be due to the abundance in the insect life around at this time of year will be a month or two before the bird life will have to eat the berries

Sounds right to me - hard winter coming.
