I was in Asda in Perth last Friday for a quick snack and ordered some soup, it was served to me in a paper cup with a plastic lid and a plastic spoon, the complimentary rolls were served on polystyrene plates complete with plastic knife.

After chatting to the lass on the till I soon discovered that there is not a single bit of crockery or cutlery used to serve customers, everything is totally disposable (except the tray), BUT everything is thrown in the bin and not one bit is recycled, what a total waste! Now that store in Perth is pretty big and I expect it is very busy at time with a lot using the cafe seven days a week, it must cost a small fortune stocking that place with disposable plates etc.. never mind the enviromental effect.

Asda own brand soup...I'll bet that was plastic too. [lol]
