Was on local weather yesterday to keep a look out for sunsets this week. The extraordinary colours of the sunset are caused by a volcano which erupted in Eastern Russia near the border with China on the 12th June. The volcano erupted up to 3 miles high and the sunset is the result of particles of dust from the volcano. They are requesting photos of sunsets this week. S.T.V. by the way.

There certainly was a real firey orange to the sunset last night, especially with a longer exposure.

Thanks folks, dont know if volcanic dust had anything to do with it but there was a really bright orange layer low down and about an 1 1/2 hours later there was a really vivid orange streak above the Old man of Hoy,you quite often get red above Hoy but haven't noticed such a bright orange before.
