I am trying to trace where my grandfather died. He was a solicitor who worked in Edinburgh, but his family come from a long line of Nicolsons in Bower. His father (William) was a coachman in Caithness then came down to live in the Belford area of Edinburgh, where he ran a few grocer shops. My grandfather went missing in 1959 and was eventually classed as missing presumed dead. I have a feeling he went back up to Caithness to live out the rest of his days. Any info would be very much appreciated.

I don't have any info to help but there is a gentleman in Liverpool who has a lot of family tree info on Nicolsons in Caihness. His name is Ian Aitchison, 20 Gorseway, Freshfield, Formby, Liverpool, L37 1PB. If you drop him a line he might be able to help.
