Spotted last Sunday at Farr in north Sutherland during an enjoyable cliff top walk.

These Burnett moths are not great flyers and seem to prefer to hide instead.
When I was little, my grandparents quite often took me to Latheronwheel Harbour. There used to be loads of these moths on the brae above where the picnic tables are now sited.

We saw various other species too including (dozens of) magpie moths and lots of different very small moths, also meadow brown butterflies, blue butterflies, painted lady butterflies.
There was also a large brown moth with yellow underwings but it flew off before I could attempt to photograph it.
