Did anyone watch this on 5 or cnn tonight, i had been watching coverage of it on cnn sine 5, just wish i could have been there.

what a service it was, tell you it brought tears to my eyes especially when jermaine sang smile, then his little girl paris said what a wonderful dad he was. what i also noticed was when the people paying their respects went down to see the family, most of them igorned michaels dad, did anyone else notice it or was it just me.

I watched it too and i have to say it made me feel rather ashamed of my previous comments with regards to MJ.
No matter what I feel about the unsubstantiated claims of abuse in Michaels life, this memorial sure reminded me of what an Icon he was and will always be.
At the end of the day he was a son, brother and father and deserves the respect that his family are honouring him with.
MJ played a very big part in the teenage life of many many people and I too remember the MJ of my childhood and will mourn and always remember the day the music died.

I was fortunate enough to see the whole memorial service "live", as it was broadcast on TV. Although snippets of it were shown later on, I was glad I was able to see it before it was cut and analysed. I'm not ashamed to admit that tears were rolling down my face throughout much of it. It was a very moving tribute, and beautifully done. Seeing Michael's coffin in front of the stage was very poignant. Part of me was half expecting the lid to come flying open, at which point Michael would miraculously come alive and jump on stage, dancing along with his music and videos that were being played.

My only criticism is that Michael's two sons were chomping away at chewing gum just about all the way through, even blowing bubbles at times. I just don't think that was the time and place - if I could have reached through the TV screen and yanked it out of their mouths, I would have! The middle aged man who escorted Stevie Wonder to the piano was another culprit. But that aside, I thought the whole service was wonderful, and very fitting. I was touched by the lovely, heartfelt things that were said about Michael, words that made me even more aware of just how special this man really was, both as a performer and a person. I enjoyed the amusing anecdotes as well.

There was a big tug at my emotions as I listened to the beautiful tribute songs, especially when Jermaine sang Charlie Chaplin's "Smile", and when Usher broke down at the end of singing "Gone Too Soon", as he stood near the coffin. Of course the biggest tug of all was at the close of the service, when Michael's daughter Paris said her dad was "...the best father you could ever imagine" and that she just wanted to say that she loved him so much. Believe me, I was sobbing along with her - bawling my eyes out, in fact!

a complete waste of money, for goodness sake he was a singer and a pedo no better than gary glitter, typical, you lot forget when you all cursed him on here for being what he was and now hes some sort of demi-god,

let him die and bury him and move on, another one just like him will be in the news next week for doing awful things to the kids, yet bought his freedom from crimes he committed and you still thnk he great

You're completely entitled to your opinion and I respect that.
I guess I'm one of the ones that was quick to judge MJ and was very vocal in doing so.

For me, it was just watching the memorial service. It reminded me that no matter what the innuendo, the accusations or the dirt that was dished on him, he was still someones son, someones brother and someones father and thinking like that helped me to respect the fact that millions are mourning him.
No one can say that he wasn't a legend in his own right. His music and indeed his dancing was the inspiration to many many people from musicians to average Joe Bloggs.
He deserves a decent send off for those reasons if nothing else and the people who spoke at the service knew a MJ that none of us ever had the privilege to know.

As for the Abuse accusations, I do still believe that there's no smoke without fire. We'll never truly know the truth behind the claims, the pay off or what really happened. Because of this lack of definite knowledge or proof I believe that I should not be so quick to judge him.

I would not condemn you for having your beliefs or opinions though and although some may find them disrespectful, I actually don't.
I'm not suggesting that I've 'seen the light', I can just admit when an opinion of mine serves no purpose and when it has no definitive grounds of fact.

So how do you know what the truth is? Oh right, I forgot, you read it in a newspaper. They always tell the truth.

The truth is buried along with Michael, end of story.

I thought the service was very moving and a fitting tribute to a mega star. He touched many hearts in all walks of life throughout the world. The fact that he was in the Guiness Book of Records as the person who supported the most charities in the world shows what a true humanitarian he was. The music and dance clips shown of him throughout his life proved to me that he still had so much more to give to the world. He was a genius and shall live on in his music. RIP Michael.

The congresswoman last night summed it up best-"Under the American constitution everyone is INNOCENT until proven guilty" Pardon me if i am wrong but he WASNT found guilty.
End of story.

It was a show extravaganza. I think it was wrong to bring in his coffin - in bad taste - and I was never quite sure who was genuinely upset. But that said, he was an icon of popular culture and many millions around the world will miss him. I was horrified when the Senator saluted him. That is quite simply wrong. You do not salute a civilian like that and Jackson was not royalty or the President. I hope he finds peace wherever he is.

A fitting and beautiful tribute to a beautiful man with the gentllest of souls.... Many in this world judged him and branded him as bad because, kindness and love has been tainted by the times we live in. Michael Jackson was never guilty or capable of what he was accused of.
Heaven has gained the return of a radiant spirit and may we all learn, true love and care is not wrong and does not have an ulterior motive.....

God Bless him and may he sing and dance among the Angels and share his gifts with the spirits who have yet to be born into this world...May he teach and guide them well in the hope that some day this tired old world will once more marvel at a gifted being who will sing and dance among us bringing joy to our lives. RIP

You are out of line, and I found your comments disrespectful. If you can't show any respect for someone who has died, then just don't bother commenting at all.
He was never found guilty, and whatever you think of him, he was someone's son, dad, brother, uncle etc.
I hope Michael is at peace now, away from ignorant people like you.

People, get a life!
This is Diana all over again. (Remember her?)
MJ was not even a particularly brilliant musician. He peaked around age 12 as the Onion reminds us. James Brown was doing it all before him and doing it better. Not only that, he had a better funeral.
So what is going on here? An excuse for a good bawl?
Come on, Caithness, pull yourself together!

The narrow minded form an opinion and condemn without a shred of evidence. Some people, men especially, seem to have great difficulty understanding another man who lives his life so differently from them. Yes, Michael had boys in his bedroom but I believe it was as innocent as our children inviting friends to a sleepover. He was a man child and loved doing things that children do. He related to them so well mainly because children do not judge. Those who knew Michael best said he loved everyone, all of mankind, and never spoke a cruel or mean word about anyone.

He did not buy his way out of the charges, he was advised to settle because his participation in the legal proceedings would have resulted in a huge financial loss due to lost earnings and lawyer fees. He later said he regretted taking that advice.

The media interviewed an author this week who said he was totally outraged when the jury did not find Michael guilty. He was convinced of his guilt and made it his mission to prove it. He dug deeply and could not find one thing to support his opinion or the charges.

Would you have send your kids for a sleep-over with MJ if asked?

Those who knew Michael Jackson best have been asked this question and without any hesitation, they answered yes. Those who allowed their children to stay with him felt very comfortable with their decision. In my opinion, had he not had deep pockets, no accusations would have ever been made.

Yesterdays tribute to Michael Jackson was beautifully done. A good send off to the King of Pop.

1 billion people worldwide watched the concert honouring Jackson at the Staples Center arena. Can't see there being many dry eyes out there especially when little Paris spoke.

Yes i would have as i dont believe for one minute that he done those awful things so what do you think of the parents of the children that where "involved" taking the money in an out of court settlement.I know one thing if that happened to any of my kids i would the person swing and i would never take their money never ,i would want justice wouldn't you?[disgust]

I would say that had he not deep pockets he could have been in real trouble with the law.
The entertainment world is full of pedlers of human flesh. Mothers prepared to sell their kids? You betcha these vultures hover around the Hollywood Hills!

Now as for your take on the media - well we get what we deserve I suppose. But there is a circularity to your criticism. On the one hand the entire celebrity cult that has descended upon us like some sort of moral fog is blamed on the media.

Fair enough.

But what you want and what you are demanding be placed above criticism is an exquisite example of manipulation by the media - but it feels good! So we mustn't criticise their excesses.

Finally I dont think you have answered my question about four and five year olds sleeping over with a profoundly disturbed, middle aged male with the ready cash to be able to indulge in a fantasy life.

My grand-daughters know enough to phone 911 when approached by adults offering candy for sleep-overs. And so do yours! So turn off the tears.....

truth, more like slander, this man should now be left to rest but eejits like you just keep all the nasty stories, havent you heard of the saying innocent unto proven guilty, well its so true this man was never found guilty of any crimes. the only crime he is guilty of was being to nice and trusting.

At near 84 years of age it was not my kind of music to enjoy, but I must admit I enjoyed his music when he was a youngster singing in a group with his siblings.
