What sort of moth is this?

Information: It was found in the shed, it has a (excuse me untechnical jargon) windy up long feeler or whatever around its mouth.

I would say it's either a Small White or a Green Veined White Butterfly, probably Small White.

I'm just puzzled, the wing markings would indicate a white of some sort but not the colour, wonder if that is down to shadow from the hands of the holder?

That's just it LIZZ, the butterfly is showing it's underwing pattern underexposed and backlit. Here's a photo I found on the web showing what I mean! Not sure who the photographer is, but I thank him for the use of it.
