House Martins

Last month the air seemed to be full of Housemartins and a pair spent several days building a very professional nest in our eaves. They then disappeared for a few days then reappeared for a few. But have not seen them now for weeks, and no activity in the nest. :~(

Do they build several nests and choose the best one or move on like tourists chasing the weather?

We get loads of them here all summer long. Along with Swallows.
We have a huge huge pond (mini lake really) and everyday we get to watch them swooping down and skimming the pond for water. Love em! :)
