We're getting an error message on Sky saying 'No satellite signal is being received.' After spending 20 minutes on the phone to Sky going through their troubleshooting, they say they don't know what the problem is and want to send an engineer to check our box. Since that's a £65 charge, thought I'd ask if anyone else is having problems tonight first! We're in Armadale.

Hi cazmanian_minx

Nothing here and we're just a couple of miles east of you (Strathy) - all we've had is a 'flash' telling us our new cards are in the post.. all's fine

Thanks everyone - still no signal here. Will switch the box off overnight and see what happens in the morning. We were thinking about upgrading to Sky+ anyway, so that would avoid the callout charge at least!

If there was a signal fault in your area then it would be a national fault with the satellite. The signal is sent out to all and not just to single areas. This isnt the case. It will be down to your dish/lnb or sky box.

It'll be something like the dish has moved slightly in the wind or there is water in the coax cable coming from the dish. Check the connection going into the box as well.

We have been getting blocky interuptions on sky in Reay. Nothing too much though, signal strength is about 75% of the bar.

Thanks everyone for the helpful suggestions - we've tried everything as well as working our way through the Sky help pages and lots of suggestions from Googling and still can't get signal lock, so Sky are sending us an engineer. Their booking system is currently borked, so at the moment we're booked for Monday 22nd, but they've told me to ring back this Monday and if it's fixed they'll try and move us to an earlier appointment.

Time to catch up on the reading pile over the next week - the only way to get a signal at this house is via a dish :)

We've been getting intermittent loss of signal on a lot of channels, although some channels are unaffected. Signal keeps coming and going every few seconds. Really irritating.

Getting third Sky+ box fitted on Wednesday. This is all within the first year`s warranty as when it tapes channel 5 on replay it keeps playing the same segment over and over again.

True movies and other freeview type movie channels also very bad sound the characters sound as if they are being strangled. It has spoiled many a good film.

If this box doesn`t work just going to use the built in freeview on the tv and go back to the trusty video recorder!
