DOH thank you for the correction, I got out of sequence when naming the photos.
I will go sit in the corner and write 100 lines, " Must be accurate when naming species."

Seriously though have had a plethora of butterflies the last week or so,
although they are being a little elusive when it comes to getting pictures,at least a dozen different ones have been logged in the garden, joy to watch.
Wish I had a moth trap as they too have been on the wing including some spectacular members of the Hawk moth family.

This is how it normally settles and is distinguished by the fact that it has no orange on the underwing.

Great photos Deemac & Lizz.

Lizz you sure have a fair selection of subjects in your garden to photograph - I'm jealous.

The bee below is the appropriately named red-tailed bumblebee (see http://www.bumblebeeconservation.org.uk/bumblebees_id.htm). We don't see them as far north as Caithness.
The other one looks like a buff-tailed worker to me, but they are quite similar to white tailed workers and I'm no expert, so I could be wrong.

Looks like a Hercules Moth (Coscinocera hercules) the world's largest moth species and found in N Queensland and PNG.
