I am looking for a pub/hotel with good local food, clean and comfortable accomodation for 2 nights in August. MUST BE DOG FRIENDLY

We have booked the ferry and Scally dog is visiting UK with us :) We are planning to leave Perth area on the 27th and head for the west via Thurso/Halkirk to catch up with friends.

Something within short distance to either of these town would be great or en route along the top.

Thank for any help.

The holborn is the best hotel for food up her by far.
Not sure if they let dogs inn you'd have to ask 892771.
Don't know if any hotels let dogs in.

Although not exactly local to Caithness, this hotel http://www.royalcromartyhotel.co.uk/index.asp?pageid=52959 is dog friendly.

OJS thanks for that I will look into it this week.

RIR thanks for your suggestion will check it out also.

Any more ? are dogs not welcome in most places these days ? when I lived in Scotland and had the dog we always went self catering so have no knowledge of the norm.

You could try the Castletown hotel-meals there are fantastic-not sure about dogs but worth asking! x

You're welcome. :)

As you're travelling, I don't know if this is any use to you, but the Osprey Hotel in Kingussie http://www.ospreyhotel.co.uk/index.html is extremely dog friendly. No evening meals, but the Tipsy Laird http://www.tipsy-laird.co.uk/ is just down the road, and has a good menu. You can leave the dog in the car, have your meal, and then take the dog into the public bar area if you wish. I did. :D There's a nice area just past Ruthven barracks (on the right) in the woods where you can let the dog run off-lead.

Here's mine in the very same woods a week ago:
