Has anyone found a map pre-clearances which shows these villages please?

Ausdale, sometimes spelled Austisdale, or as today Ousdale, nowadays embraces several village sites, the names and locations of which are placed with some difficulty, but which were originally outside of the bounds of Ausdale farm.

These small clusters of stone houses were termed "villages" and they were Auchincraig (sometimes Aultnacraig), Clashvrick, Eshlaven, The Borgue of Ausdale (Alt a' Bhurg) Polbait (Eas Poll an Damarin).
Of these Auchnacraig was the largest, there being thirteen families resident.

pg 12: One of the Villages was Ault-na-craig which had a fishing fleet of fourteen boats attached to it. The crews of these boats were composed of the inhabitants of Ault-na-craig and Badbea. The other village to be turned out was Rinsary, situated on the north side of East Berridale. The inhabitants of the villages were driven to the four winds of heaven and their once-comfortable habitations were demolished, the stones therefrom used in the building of a five-foot dyke around the place.

Thanks

Auchnacraig is shown on Thomson's 1832 map - www.nls.uk/maps/atlas/thomson/485.html,
as is Ausdale.

Wow, thank you so very much for posting the link to that map. It helped me locate a mystery place that I had been trying to locate for some time.

Nice!
