Pterodroma

Brindled Ochre is a bit of a northern speciality, being much commoner up here than in the south. The moth is on the wing in September and October, but after mating the males die off and the species continues over the winter as hibernating, pregnant females. They reappear in the spring to lay eggs. Three in my garden this spring.
