What opinion do folks have on this? I've got it set as a shortcut and check each day...

Looks like a pile of nonsense to me.

But would be interesting if it leads to someone discovering they have an infection of some sorts.

Why would you say it's a pile of nonsense?

The website shows a simple page which allows you to detect if you may have Conficker on your computer. The simplicity of the site is what makes it so accessible and easy to use.

Conficker will block you accessing some sites (for AV updates) so trying to display the logos from those sites will, if you have Conficker on your computer, fail. You could also fail for other reasons, however it's a good indication.

The Conficker Working Group was setup wghen the hype of Conficker was high at the start of April.

Still think it's nonsense, if you want to look @ a page with 6 pics and think you pc is ok, thats upto you, i am not disrespecting what you get upto.

Maybe put some useful information in your post like Mr Blue Ivy has done for you.

Then some people might find it useful.

I'm no PC genius, just very average, but I do have anti-virus/firewall. It was simply a method that anyone can use to check if conficker is in, maybe you have a great deal of knowledge of PC's virus's? etc but most of us do not and your demeaning tone has no place on here.
I think blueivy knows what he's talking about (Blue Ivy Ltd, Wick - Certified Microsoft Small Business Specialist) .. Sorry, thought you might have the temerity to simply scroll down the page, as anyone can do, never mind, obviously not. Here's what it says:

'Conficker (aka Downadup, Kido) is known to block access to over 100 anti-virus and security websites.
If you are blocked from loading the remote images in the first row of the top table above (AV/security sites) but not blocked from loading the remote images in the second row (websites of alternative operating systems) then your Windows PC may be infected by Conficker (or some other malicious software). If you can see all six images in both rows of the top table, you are either not infected by Conficker, or you may be using a proxy server, in which case you will not be able to use this test to make an accurate determination, since Conficker will be unable to block you from viewing the AV/security sites.

If you had gone to the trouble in your 1st post then it would have been relevant.

You asked for opinions I gave you one and your not very accepting of it.

THE END

If you had gone to the trouble in your 1st post then it would have been relevant. Thought it was obvious

You asked for opinions I gave you one and your not very accepting of it. Yes, but with a wee bit of helpfulness / understanding to us amateurs

To keep everybody on their toes, Conficker is still a problem (http://www.malwarecity.com/news/conficker-still-infecting-50000-pcs-per-day-444.html).
