Here is the latest betting on the next leader of the Labour Party. I note that Mrs Blair is quoted at 500/1, along with a certain Charles Kennedy and even my old pal Tory Blair!!

Who is the best bet of the three?

Me? I'm backing Elvis to ride Shergar to victory in this year's Derby, doubled with Abu Hamza jumping in front of the Queen's horse at Tattenham Corner.

Gordon Brown 2/9
David Miliband 7/1
Alan Milburn 16/1
Alan Johnson 16/1
Charles Clarke 20/1
Hilary Benn 16/1
John Reid 33/1
Peter Hain 40/1
Jack Straw 40/1
Alistair Darling 100/1
Patricia Hewitt 50/1
Ruth Kelly 100/1
John Prescott 100/1
Clare Short 250/1
Ken Livingstone 500/1
George Galloway 500/1
Peter Tatchell 500/1
David Cameron 500/1
Charles Kennedy 500/1
Cherie Blair 500/1
Walter Wolfgang 500/1

Because people will bet on anything. Gambling is a mammoth industry and it would surprise you how many closet gamblers there are.

If they were real gamblers they'd know that this race has been won already: favourite @ 2/9, 2nd favourite @ 7/1? :confused
