Just to parallel here, there was a lot of protesting and anti war campaigns over World War 2 also, but then finally Britain got involved and eventually the USA now if these two countries had acted sooner when Hitler invaded Austria and Poland then some families would have a lot more relatives.

Despite the obvious commonality (erm, war), I'm not entirely sure that you can realistically compare the two.

On March 31st 1939, Britain pledged support to Poland in the event that they were threatened with invasion. Germany invaded Poland on September 1st 1939. Two days later Britain went to war.

With Iraq we didn't ever really have a 100% legally watertight basis for the invasion. We were certainly given plenty of reasons by Blair and Bush, and each time one was scoffed at another was ready to be wheeled out in its place, but nobody could actually agree which ones were the truth or which would actually justify pre-emptive action on our part.

Even now we have moved from Saddam has WOMD with which he can threaten us to Saddam lied about having WOMD because he wanted to look strong (yeah, well that worked well, didn't it?).

Even senior members of the Cabinet could not agree that the course we were bound on was legal and right, so what chance the rest of us?

They say that hindsight is a wonderful thing. Yes, if Britain had declared war on Germany earlier more lives might well have been saved. But who's to say that, in forty years time, documents won't show that if we'd only given Hans Blix the time he had requested he would have found that there were no WOMD and the Iraqi regime could have been dealt with without the bloodshed of war?

If people feel that their government is misrepresenting them and their interests (or just plain lying to them) then they MUST have every right to question, petition, complain, and eventually remove them from office. That's democracy.

:evil Well he is ear, they tried to shoot him with 41 gunns but missed, he is going home on one of his Toxic ships just to prove how safe they are.
As from next week we will no longer live in the UK, but it will be known as USAUK and George Blair will be at the helm and Tony Buch will be pulling his strings and making him talk, ( oh sorry he does that now).
Some say "good old blair" the rest tell the truth. :evil [evil] [lol]
