just got a phone call from a foreign gentleman telling me that i could now reclaim all bank charges for the last six years. That they could send me a package to help me do this I tried to interrupt his spiel by asking why HE was phoning me and what exactly was he offering, He didn't seem to understand a word i was saying. Kept saying 'what was that, madam, what was that?' I then tried to ask how much was this going to cost me, again all I got was 'what was that , madame?' Finally I just hung up.
probably the package would cost me more than the charges I have paid anyway.

its a scam to get you bank details. i had this call weeks ago, offering a free package to help claim back charges. they had my address, and started by wanting the start/expiry dates from my bank card for securty. then when they asked for the long number off my card, i told them they dont need those detatils for security or otherwise, since this package they offer is supposed to be free, then then hung up.

just remember, until the court case with the bankds is finished noone can guarrantee you can get the charges back.

I'll bet he would have understood every word if you gave him your bank details!

Anyone that receives a phone call or letter offering to help reclaim bank charges should just ignore it....some are trying to scam you, whilst others will make money from your legitimate claim that you can easily do youself, and all it should cost you is £10. As Kriklah said, the case hasn't been finalised in court yet.

Northern Constabulary have issued a warning that these recent phonecalls regarding bank charges are a scam.

Not sure if it's a scam, i had a similar phone call a few days back from a company calling itself UPI http://www.upiltd.co.uk/1.html telling me that the court case regarding bank charge claims had been resolved and that they could send me a pack detailing how to claim, i just thanked him for the information and told him i would look into it.
It certainly sounded like it was coming from a busy call center and not once did he ask for any personal or bank details.

I stand corrected, thanks, i wouldn't have given out a single piece of information or even considered engaging their services, but it's good to know they are slightly 'dodgy'
