not been getting photos I'm happy with lately due to one reason or another, just seem to be dull and uninteresting but here's a few that I am slightly happy with - bit of a mixed bag

always happy with this subject - Brodie in Culbin Forest, Moray

Dragonfly, your photos are fantastic but if you want to give them extra umph then you need to experiment with photoshop. Tastefully done it can bring out the best in your photos, in the end it is all about the picture that you want to present not what you want as a visually realistic representation. I'm only learning and wish to do more with PS but I know what results it can produce.

Rheghead, don't have a clue about photoshop, I have paintshop pro and struggle with that

Matthew, would love to take you up on your offer but as said above I don't have photoshop :( too expensive with my very limited knowledge

Photoshop elements 6 or 7 are not very expensive £70 or so i think, and are quite easy to get the hang of.Paintshop or photoshop are really quite easy if you are prepared to put the time in learning them,a lot of ppl are put of because they think its complicated and give up.The internet, especially youtube has loads of videos explaining the basics and its much easier to watch how its done compared with reading about it.
Heres a outer space/nebula image i made without any photo, just photoshop trickery and took about 5 mins to do,gives you an idea of what can be done and this is really quite basic techniques.

dragonfly,
It's difficult to keep the inspiration up all the time, grey flat days can produce good images, you just have to work a bit harder.
The shot of Brodie is very good, and the diffuse light of a grey day is helpful here.
The Dunnet Head Lighthouse is crisp and well composed.
Some good comments from mph. Photoshop Elements is well worth looking at, if you are prepared to spend a little more have a look at Adobe Lightroom.
