i believe the semi-sub oil rig drilling 20 miles off the wick coast is in an oil
field they have called zanzibar, has anyone got info on whether they have
found oil or is it a non starter.

what does zanzibar mean? :confused:

the zanzibar oil field was drilled and tapped 15 years ago it was decided then that the field wasnt big enough to put into production, however in todays oil climate it may now prove to be worth it. however it wont bring anything to caithness as it will be tapped straight in to the beatrice field just off helmsdale and then piped to ST fergus

Zanzibar is an island in the Indian Ocean off the Tanzanian coast. I read a book with the same title by Giles Foden - a good read.
