Went up Dunnet Head today and got some photo's of the damge there. It wasn't as bad as i expected, it has really been just a surface burn, and there are lots of patches in the black burn that are still living. i saw juniper and other stuff still growing.
3 pics from today, more on my website.

Nice shots Tugmistress. Great detail.

I was up there myself a couple of days ago and it`s good to see there`s not as much damage as everybody thought there was going to be.

Really like no`s 2 and 3 with 3 being my fave...

Nice photos Tugs, Love the black cloud in the sky on 2, conveys the true atmosphere! Do you actually 'control' the weather or just forecast it I wonder! LOL Rain clouds to order?

hehehe lizz, think you mean HG ! ;)

When i was up there i 'planted' a rock in a totally burnt area, though it looks black when you feel the thicker stems of the heather they are still full of sap? or whatever it is and living, i will be going back up for photo's of the rock and what's around it in 2 months (shant be fit next month after my op) and am going to keep a record of it in the gallery on my website i made last night. sort of a photographic diary of the regeneration of the heather :)

Brilliant idea Tugs! Amazing that the damage is not more extensive as the fiery glow seemed ominous viewed from across the water!

Many years ago the peat banks at Orphir on Orkney were burnt, not as big as Dunnet but still a couple of miles went up in smoke, next year you would hardly have known there was a fire,i think we sometimes underestimate natures powers of recovery.
Look forward to the photographic recovery diary Tugs.
