View Full Version : Caption competition.

As there are quite a few quick witted users on the message board. Is there any possibility of having a weekly caption competition. There doesn't need to be a prize for the funniest caption. Perhaps, just leave it to a viewers' vote.

So there aren't any offensive pictures posted, maybe Niall and Bill could supply the pics.

Your thoughts please.

It that really Jane Torvill of Torvill and Dean, my absolute fav pairs figure skaters? I wouldn't recognize the politician. The faces of the celebrities meant nothing to me. What caught my eye was the can of "virtual mother". All I could think was that it was a horrible brand name for baby formula. That's why I averted my eyes to the tablecloth. This is not submitted as a caption, just a comment.

What's more interesting is that you didn't know who Tory Blair is either. On the other hand, I couldn't name his Canadian equivalent. In fact I couldn't even name the Canadian equivalent of Tony Blair until I looked it up a few minutes ago. How embarrassing. :o

How are we going to decide the winner? It seems a little gratuitous to set up a poll on a whole new thread to do this. Any ideas anyone?

Nah, I'm not swallowing that one. Inverted commas would have been appropriate for a non-dooter.

Also, if you were checking up the Canadian equivalent of Tony Blair did you check up the equivalent of Tony Blair, or of "Tony Blair"

Perhaps lessons in when to stop digging would be more appropriate than an optician. But if you would prefer the latter, then Malcolm Rifkind's brother is supposed to be good. I kid you not!

I picked up on the Tory/Tony Blair dichotomy, but it took me a bit to track down Tory Blair aka David Cameron. Given the government in Canada is Conservative I am not sure just who one would name as his equivalent. Perhaps Giles Duceppe, leader of the Bloc Quebecois.

And I agree lets follow a similar scheme to the one we use in the quiz, let the poster of the picture pick the best caption. Just, no posting answers under an assumed user name. But don't the moderators have a means to cull for that?

I guess I'd better be ready to dodge the flak coming from those that didn't win. [para]
