Just a reminder that the Tuesday evening 10 mile time trials have started again for the summer. We meet at the Thurso cemetery by 7:15 PM and the first starter goes off at 7:30.

For those who haven't tried this before, competitors set off at one-minute intervals and the idea is to ride as fast as possible against the clock. The start is just 200m down from the cemetery entrance and we ride to Georgemas and backagain = 10 miles. There is always someone on the turn to watch out for traffic, and a timekeeper to set you off and time you as you arrive at the finish.

We have competitors on Mountain bikes, which is OK, but if you want to go faster you'd be best with a racing / road bike so as to get into a lower, morer aerodynamic position. Most new riders do the 10 miles in 32 to 36 minutes, and the fastest riders can be around 24 minutes (not me lol). 30 minutes is a good target to start with. Whatever time you get you will get fitter!!

Come along and introduce yourself / ask to see the timekeeper, and you will be made most welcome.
