Reay's Village Grocer in 1855 used to travel up and down Strath Halladale in his horse and cart selling at the following prices:-

Butter sells at 1/- per lb
Eggs 5½d per dozen

Sugar is 4/- per lb
Tea is 2/4 per half lb
Coffee is 1/8 per lb
Peas Meal is 2/- per lb
Flour is 3/9 a Stone.
Oat Meal is 20/- a Boll.
Bere Meal is 15/- a Boll
Barley is 2/2 a Stone.
Biscuits are 6d per lb.
Indigo is 6d per lb.
Soft Tobacco is 1/3 per lb.
Tobacco is 4/- per lb
Molasses is 11/2 per lb.
